About Us

神戸生まれ。神戸市外国語大学外国語学部英米学科卒業。兵庫教育大学大学院学校教育研究科修士課程修了（教育学修士）。オーストリアのクラーゲンフルト大学大学院博士課程満期退学。

1998年9月から1999年8月までグラーツ工科大学の情報システム・コンピューター援用メディア研究所（Institüt für Informationssysteme und Computer Medien） 客員研究員。

兵庫県の高等学校（兵庫県立長田高等学校など）の教諭をつとめ、その後流通科学大学商学部教授、順天堂大学医学部教授を経て、2015年より神戸学院大学グローバル・コミュニケーション学部教授（外国語教育、メディア・コミュニケーション、音声学）。2024年3月31日定年退職後はＳＡＧＥ合同会社（Society for Advanced Global Education, LLC）CEO兼教育・国際事業ディレクター。英国の教育関連企業Mick Davies Educationのコンサルタントからスタートし、国際的事業を手がける。生成AIによる音声技術でトップを走るElvenLabs社のTranscriber、Quality Controller。

流通科学大学在職中には、選択科目”English for Marketing”でPhilip Kotler & Gary ArmstrongのPrinciples of Marketingなど、アメリカの大学用のマーケティングのテキストを使い、英語でマーケティング概論の授業を展開。また、オーストリアのBregenzerwald（ブレゲンツの森）での観光を通じた地域振興プロジェクト、KäseStrasse Bregenzerwald（ブレゲンツの森チーズ街道）への視察ツアーを企画。課外活動として、選抜された学生を引率し、現地のプロジェクトを視察した。

順天堂大学医学部在職中には、カナダ人の医師とともに医学英語の授業を展開。課外活動として、理化学研究所の若手外国人研究者を招き、英語での学内研修会を主宰。

神戸学院大学グローバル・コミュニケーション学部在職中には、English and Communicationなどの授業を通じて、イントネーション、リズムなど韻律に重点をおいた英語発音指導を実施した。オーストリアのフォアアールベルク州Montafon（モンタフォン）地域での地域振興プロジェクト視察ツアーを企画。課外活動として学生を引率、現地のプロジェクトを視察した。

英国ケンブリッジ大学ヒューズ・ホールおよびヨーク大学でのグローバル・コミュニケーション学部英語コース3年生のセメスター留学による英語研修の受け入れ交渉を行い、2大学とも留学を実現させた。

現在は企業などの公式文書、広報素材の翻訳、英語化が主要事業であり、さらに高品質のAI合成音声を使用した多言語ナレーション、AIを活用した多言語動画吹替サービスの新事業を開始した。

Junichi Azuma was born in Kobe, Japan. He graduated from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Department of English and American Studies. Completed a Master’s degree (Master of Education) at the Graduate School of School Education, Hyogo University of Teacher Education. Later, he joined a doctoral course at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria.

From September 1998 to August 1999, Junichi Azuma was a visiting researcher at the Institute for Information Systems and Computer-supported Media (Institüt für Informationssysteme und Computer Medien) at Graz University of Technology in Graz, Austria.

After working as a teacher at high schools in Hyogo Prefecture (e.g., Hyogo Prefectural Nagata High School), Japan, Junichi Azuma worked as a professor at the Faculty of Commerce, Ryutsu Kagaku University (University of Marketing and Distribution Sciences), and the School of Medicine, Juntendo University. He was a professor at the Faculty of Global Communication, Kobe Gakuin University, from 2015 until March 2024.

Distinctive Educational Achievements

During his tenure at Ryutsu Kagaku University, Junichi Azuma taught an elective course called “English for Marketing,” in which he used standard American university textbooks of marketing, such as Principles of Marketing by Philip Kotler and Gary Armstrong, to teach the basics of marketing in English where the class was managed entirely in English. Junichi Azuma planned and organised a study tour to KäseStrasse Bregenzerwald (Bregenz Forest, Vorarlberg, Austria) to show his students a project promoting rural tourism in that area.

During his tenure at the Juntendo University, School of Medicine, he developed medical English classes with a Canadian medical doctor. For an extracurricular activity, he invited young foreign researchers from RIKEN and led an on-campus workshop in English.

During his tenure at Faculty of Global Communication, Kobe Gakuin University, he mainly taught English pronunciation with an emphasis on intonation, rhythm, and other prosodic features in classes such as English and Communication. He planned and coordinated a study tour for his students to inspect a regional development project in the Montafon region of Vorarlberg, Austria. Junichi Azuma negotiated the acceptance of the third-year students of the English Language Course of the Faculty of Global Communication for semester-long English language training programmes at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, UK, and the University of York, UK, and organised study-abroad programmes at both universities with their educational staff.

After April 1, 2024, Junichi Azuma became CEO and the Director of Educational and International Businesses at SAGE, LLC (Society for Advanced Global Education, LLC). The main business domain of SAGE, LLC is translation service but the company also offers consulting services for non-Japanese companies, such as Mick Davies Education Ltd., Cambridge, UK and NEI Inc., Seatle, USA.

SAGE, LLC recently started new AI-driven businesses such as English narration service and multi-language dubbing service utilising generative AI and high-quality TTS technology.
